The Barber Pole originally opened in 1996 in Orchard Square Shopping Center. In 2002, we moved across the street to our present location on Volvo Parkway. For over 25 years, we have been serving the Greenbrier area and pride ourselves as being "The Hometown Barbershop of Greenbrier".
 
The owner Nancy Bush has been a barber since 1980 and started barbering in Virginia Beach at Fairfield Barber Shop in 1985. In 1992, her family moved to Yokosuka, Japan. She quickly started barbering again and managed the CPO Barber Shop on the U.S. Naval Base in Yokosuka. Returning to Virginia in 1998, Nancy started working at The Barber Pole and purchased the shop in July of 2004.

The Team

Nancy is the owner and operator of The Barber Pole. She brings experience, professionalism and stability to the business. Outside of The Barber Pole, Nancy is well known and a contributor to her community. She loves her business, her staff and her customers always come first.

John went to barber school in 1980 in Michigan and then ran his fathers barber shop for 9 years. Moving to Virginia Beach in 2002 he graduated from Rudy & Kelly and continued to barber. 


John likes to golf, play tennis, and play bass guitar. 

Debbie came to Virginia in 1982. She apprenticed in cosmetology from 1988 to 1990 and graduated in 1990. She has been married for 20 years and has 5 children. Debbie enjoys her customers and looks forward to meeting new ones - She has 29 years of haircutting experience.

Amanda was born in Boston and later moved to Arlington,VA. She went to school at Vienna Beauty College, graduating in 1990. She received additional training with various companies and product lines, as well as cutting and coloring techniques. Recently, she enhanced her career and went to Daytona Beach College in Florida to study regeneration of the skin. She graduated with honors in 2014 and became an esthetician. Her passion in life is helping men and women look and feel their best while educating them about hair and beauty.

Tamara specializes in “old school” tappers and gentlemen’s cuts, and has 17 years experience. When T is not behind the chair helping men get handsome, you can find her scuba diving the depths of the ocean or summiting mountain tops.

Joyce has been a hairstylist/barber since 1989. She’s from Scotland and moved to the United States in 2001. Joyce is married and has two wonderful daughters and lives in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach.
